    Maintenance Instructions

    Classic II™ Service Body or Cap

    Your Reading Classic II™ service body or truck cap has been designed and manufactured to provide years of trouble-free service with a minimum of maintenance. Please follow the simple maintenance procedures below:
    1. Tighten all body mounting bolts, U-bolts and tailgate hinges after 60 days service and at approximate 6 month intervals thereafter. Torque all mounting bolts and nuts to 60 to 65 ft. lbs. Torque all double nut "U" bolts to 20 ft. lbs. and second nut to 45 ft. lbs. Consult your installer for proper procedures on spring-mounted bodies.
    2. FOR BODIES OR TRUCK CAPS WITH ROTARY ACTION LOCKS – Oil all compartment door hinges and tailgate hinge brackets with a light machine oil every 30 days. Apply a small amount of white lithium grease to lock mechanism yearly.
      FOR TRUCK CAPS WITH SLAM-ACTION LOCKS -- Every 30 days oil all compartment door hinges, tailgate hinge brackets, and mechanical lock components with a light machine oil and apply a small amount of white lithium grease to lock bolt and striker plate.
    3. DO NOT OIL LOCK CYLINDERS ON ROTARY OR SLAM ACTION LOCKS - USE POWDERED GRAPHITE.
    4. Touch up any damaged paint surfaces. Prime the area and apply a finish touch-up paint.
    5. Rinse ice and snow removal chemicals from lower door thresholds and underbody components to help prevent corrosion.
    NOTE: Whenever accessory equipment such as lights or brackets are installed on the body, make sure all accessories and brackets are properly reinforced and all holes are sealed thoroughly to prevent water seepage.


    Tool Boxes

    Your Reading tool box has been designed and manufactured to provide years of trouble-free service with a minimum of maintenance. Please follow the simple maintenance procedures below:
    1. Tighten all mounting bolts approximately every 6 months.
    2. Every 30 days oil all compartment door hinges and mechanical lock components with a light machine oil and apply a small amount of white lithium grease to lock bolt and striker plate.
    3. DO NOT OIL LOCK CYLINDERS - USE POWDERED GRAPHITE.
    4. Touch up any damaged paint surfaces. Prime the area and apply a finish touch-up paint.
    5. Rinse ice and snow removal chemicals from exterior surfaces and door thresholds to help prevent corrosion.
    NOTE: Whenever accessory equipment or brackets are installed on tool boxes, make sure all accessories or brackets are properly reinforced and all holes are sealed thoroughly to prevent water seepage.


    Platform Body

    Your Reading platform body or Redi-Dek  has been designed and manufactured to provide years of trouble-free service with a minimum of maintenance. Please follow the simple maintenance procedures below:
    1. Tighten all mounting bolts and U-bolts after 60 days service and at approximate 6 month intervals thereafter. Torque all mounting bolts and nuts to 60 to 65 ft. lbs. Torque all double nut U-bolts to 20 ft. lbs. and second nut to 45 ft. lbs.
    2. Touch up any damaged paint surfaces. Prime the area and apply a finish touch-up paint.
    3. Rinse ice and snow removal chemicals from underbody components to help prevent corrosion.
