Testimonials
Harry Quinn, Harry Quinn Electrical Contractor, 98FABSW-R Classic Service Body
“Keep up the good work!”
J. Bennett, Custom Mechanical, 132GABDW-R Classic Service Body
“I think it's really neat that there is still a company that does follow up and at least projects an image of caring about those who have done business with them - even though it may be in a very indirect way (i.e. thru truck dealers). Truly, I believe you do care about your customer's and PA should be very proud of your contribution for putting the PA name "Reading" all across the nation.”
Craig Benjamin, Wadsworth Inland Electric, N102SW Aerotech Serv
“I'm very pleased with the service bodies that we have. They seem to hold up very nicely.”
C. Thomas Payton, CT Electric, 98GABSW-R Standard Bodies
“This unit has held up very good for the first year.”
Arthur Jefferies, Elec. Maint., SC81SSE Space Cap
“This is my second Space Cap. I have to talk to other contractors about your cap. Everyone likes the Reading cap.”
Ed Sell, The Electric Company, Inc., 60-132DW Classic Series panel body
“So far, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. It is a quality product that has performed admirably in its first year.”
Jim Forsythe, SP63B Saddle Pouch tool box
“I love my tool box. It is a little scratched up but it is tough and durable.”
Wm. Darrish, Industrial Electric, R8D24Z Platform Body
“Was custom fitted for our needs. It's great.”
Weldon Gray, Concho Valley Electric Co., Inc., US98ASW Classic Series service body
“We are very happy with your dealer's (Fabco) excellent service and high quality work. We hope Reading will have parts available and quick delivery on these units for several years. We plan to keep them in service 10 - 12 years. We think they will hold up well. These units were the most expensive we looked at, but looked like the highest quality and serviceability. They are heavily loaded and used off-road nearly every day.”

Electrical Contractor Says Keeping Things Organized is Crucial

Company Name: Gulf Stream Contractors
Reading Products: Classic® Series Panel Body
Type of Service: Electrical Contracting Service

For every dollar he spent on his Reading Truck Body panel body, mounted on a Ford F450 chassis, electrical contractor Robert Kozich, Jr., figures he is saving at least that much in labor costs.
“Our truck is a rolling supply house,” said the owner of Gulf Stream Contractors in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “I save so much money not having to send people to get parts,” he said, explaining that the panel body’s roomy exterior compartments allow his workers to have everything they need at hand.
Kozich ordered the “Grip-n-Glide” triple drawer unit for his body, which uses a unique “double J” latch mechanism. This provides an ergonomically correct grip while allowing the operator to disengage the dual latching bolts with one hand.
“If you’re any kind of contractor who has to keep small parts organized that option is dynamite,” said Kozich. “There’s no wasted space.”
As a modification, he said, “Reading welded in egg-crate dividers, crosshatched with little cubby holes for small items like screws.”
The body compartments also accommodate tools, pipe, fittings, ladders and wire rolls for the contractor.
The standard panel body, one of Reading’s Classic Series® service bodies, offers not only spacious exterior storage compartments, but a completely enclosed work and cargo area. Secured 2-point locking rear doors, the enclosed body has three or four shelves on each side to provide carrying space for long-handled tools and equipment. Kozich carries big rolls of wire and tools in the cargo area.
Gulf Stream Contractors provide electrical contracting in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida. Their Reading Truck Body panel body was purchased through Rayside Truck and Trailer, an authorized Reading distributor in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Rayside customized the truck further for Kozich by installing a tunnel box under the triple drawers to carry shovels, and putting an aluminum diamond rubberized lining plate on the truck bed. A front-mounted aerodynamic header, side-mounted ladder rack, stirrup steps attached to the bumper, and Reading’s patented Latch-Matic® remote control locking system rounded out the custom options.
Standard Reading features include two-sided A60 galvannealed steel construction and Lectro-Life® immersion priming for complete rust protection. Double-paneled compartment doors with stainless steel bolt-on hinges provide smooth operation and complete security. Flange-mounted automotive rubber door seals insure weathertight protection for valuable tools and equipment stored in the compartments.
Kozich has a total of seven Reading bodies in his fleet of trucks, six of them are Reading’s Spacemaker® service bodies, with top opening compartments. “The durability of the bodies is good,” he said. “The first two I bought right out of college.” He has since sold them, but, he said, “I know right where they are today.”

Reading Aerotech® Panel Body Towers the Van

Company Name: Integrated Electrical Services, Inc.
Reading Products: Aerotech® Panel Body
Type of Service: Electrical and grounding work for cellular towers

Integrated Electrical Services, Inc. recently purchased a Reading Aerotech® Panel Body model PBN110FDW and had it mounted on an F550 chassis. The Aerotech® Panel Body is an Aerotech® service body with spacious storage compartments combined with a large enclosed cargo area.
According to Bob Hurley, owner, he purchased the Reading Aerotech® Panel Body because “Reading is highly spoken of in the industry, and I like the contoured body design. I get a lot of looks when I drive by with my truck.”
Integrated Electrical Services, Inc. utilizes the body compartments of the Aerotech® Panel Body to carry a large variety of electrical equipment, and there is still room for more. The Aerotech® Panel Body has taken the place of their van. Previously, two trucks had to be taken to a work site. Now only the Aerotech® Panel Body is needed, as it is much more organized and efficient than a van. A lot of valuable time was wasted when an item needed to be found in the van. With the Aerotech® Panel Body, they can quickly find their tools and equipment neatly organized in the storage compartments and enclosed cargo area.
The enclosed cargo area is efficient for carrying pipes, a generator, and big spools of copper wire weighing between 1000 and 1500 lbs., and “it’s like they’re not even in there,” says Bob, because everything is enclosed and out of sight. In addition, a ladder rack was installed above the body for convenient ladder storage.
Integrated Electrical Services, Inc. performs electrical and grounding work for cellular phone towers. Their service area includes the states of PA, NJ, and DE. They’ve been in business for six years and employ four personnel. Their fleet consists of 7 vehicles including vans and pickups.
The Aerotech® Panel Body was purchased through Crest Truck Eq. Co., Inc., an authorized Reading distributor located in Bowmansville, PA, and through L.B. Smith, Inc.
Each Aerotech® Panel Body is completely constructed of two-sided, zinc-coated, A-60 galvannealed steel, which provides the first layer of rust protection. After the bodies are assembled, they receive Reading’s Lectro-Life® immersion priming process providing the most complete rust and corrosion protection in the industry.
Concealed compartment door hinges and heavy-duty automotive style rotary locks aid in making the Aerotech® Panel Body tamper proof. The compartment doors feature a deep press-formed inner panel making the door more resistant to bending. All hinges and locks are bolted in place for easy replacement.
The Aerotech® Panel Body is also available with optional upper lift-up storage compartments for added storage capacity.

Reading Spacemaster Preferred Over a Van

Company Name: Grozier Electric
Reading Products: Spacemaster
Type of Service: Commercial and residential electrical service

Grozier Electric recently purchased a Reading Custom Spacemaster Body model SPM57-134ADW to utilize as a “mini shop on wheels.” The Reading Custom Spacemaster Body is a service body with weathertight exterior storage compartments combined with a large enclosed cargo area and upper compartments for additional storage. Access to the cargo area is available through rear double doors. Grozier Electric chose to have the body mounted on an Isuzu NPR 2000 chassis.
According to Bill Grozier, owner, he purchased the Reading Custom Spacemaster Body because “I was not getting a van, as there is no room in them, and they are not as organized and efficient. I did comparison shopping and found Reading to be the better body. Reading was also recommended to me by others. I was a previous owner, and I like features like the galvanized bumper and the upper lift-up compartments which allow for easy access.”
Bill later customized the Custom Spacemaster Body with an aluminum ladder rack, lettering, and matting in the compartments and cargo floor.
Bill utilizes the body compartments to store drills, tools, and miscellaneous supplies. The cargo area is convenient storage for PVC fittings, conduits, and wire. Bill also mounted a self-fabricated pipe rack in the enclosed cargo area for additional storage of ladders. The storage capacity of the Custom Spacemaster Body allows him to be well stocked and organized for the diversity of jobs he performs daily, thus saving him time and money. He likes the convenience of accessing his tools from the outside without having to crawl through all the supplies and materials in the enclosed bed area, since some of the upper compartments are accessible from both inside and outside of the body. As a one man operation, organization, convenience, and efficiency is very essential to the success of his business.
Grozier Electric performs residential and commercial electrical work. They have been in business for the last 11 years servicing the surrounding three towns of Wellfleet, MA.
The Reading Custom Spacemaster Body was purchased through MonaRock Truck & Trailer Service, Inc., an authorized Reading distributor located in Pawtucket, RI, and through Showcase Isuzu.
Reading Custom Spacemaster Body features include construction of two-sided A60 galvannealed steel and Lectro-Life® immersion priming for complete rust protection. Other standard features include automotive-quality rotary locks for secure protection to tools and equipment; stainless steel bolt-on hinges keeping the compartment doors operating smoothly in all weather conditions; and double paneled compartment doors offering greater durability.

Reading Ready Van Offers More Storage Space Than Van

Company Name: Gerhardt Electric
Reading Products: Ready Van
Type of Service: Commercial and residential electrical installation

What offers more storage space than a van with the same cab-to-access accessibility plus exterior storage compartments? A Reading Ready Van.
The storage capacity offered by the Reading Ready Van combined with the easy accessibility to all of the storage areas prompted Gerhardt Electric to purchase a Reading Ready Van over a standard van. A Reading Ready Van offers weathertight exterior storage compartments and an enclosed cargo area.
Jim Gerhardt, owner of Gerhardt Electric, feels the accessibility to tools and equipment offered by the Ready Van can not be compared with a regular van. “With a van, you have to unload it before you can access anything that might be stored on shelves or bins. I have much more space with the Ready Van and do not have to unload it before accessing anything,” says Jim.
Jim opted for a Deluxe Ready Van which offers four additional exterior storage compartments, including access from both inside and outside the van, over a standard Ready Van. And, Jim chose the 74" height, giving stand-up capabilities when inside the van.
The Reading Ready Van has many customized features, per Jim’s specifications. Some customized features include a raised cargo floor for the storage of ladders, shelving units on each side of the van’s interior for storage of larger parts, and drawer units for small parts storage. A ladder built on the rear of the body provides access to a small conduit storage compartment and to longer ladders on the van’s roof. A Reading Pull-Out-Pouch was mounted on rollers and installed in the front exterior storage compartment. The Pull-Out-Pouch offers full length partitions with adjustable dividers to organize small tools and parts.
Gerhardt Electric has been providing electrical installation and service in both residential and commercial settings for the past 22 years. Gerhardt Electric services the Sacramento area.
Standard Reading Ready Van features include two-sided zinc coated A60 galvannealed steel construction combined with Reading’s exclusive Lectro-Life® immersion priming providing the most complete rust and corrosion protection in the industry. Other standard features include an expanded metal screen protecting the driver and passenger from the cargo. A bright overhead dome light in the main cargo area makes it easy to locate tools and parts to help get the job done at any time of the day or night. And rear-opening double doors also provide convenient access to the cargo area.

Reading Body Aids Industrial Electric Co. With Their Business

Company Name: Industrial Electric Co.
Reading Products: Custom platform body & Maxi Tool-Mate toolboxes
Type of Service: Commercial and residential electrical installation

Industrial Electric Co. purchased a customized Reading Platform Body, model R8D, equipped with various Reading toolboxes to utilize as their service and maintenance vehicle.
According to Bill Darish, President, they chose a Reading Platform Body because they wanted to replace an older Reading body that gave them 30 plus years of performance. Industrial Electric Co. chose to mount the Platform Body on a Ford chassis and had it equipped with various Reading products making it a workshop on wheels.
A front thru compartment was mounted behind the cab with a railing above, which serves as a tie-down for storage of materials and as a hand rail. Two Maxi Tool-Mates were mounted on each side of the platform. Maxi Tool-Mates are wider and higher than Standard Tool-Mates to allow for even more storage space, and range in lengths from 48" to 107½". They feature locking, weathertight compartments to keep tools and equipment organized and protected from moisture and theft. An underbox was mounted under the platform on the roadside for additional storage. Industrial Electric Co. utilizes all this compartment space for storage of aerial lighting equipment, lighting transformers, fuses, fuse holders, pole line equipment, and other materials needed on the job.
A step-ladder was mounted from the platform on the curbside giving easy access to the platform. The bed area, constructed of deck plate steel, is used for storage of job-site materials. In addition, a 94" platform extension with a thru box was mounted in the rear for storage of shovels and pry bars. A hydraulic tamper pole puller, a hydraulic jack with a chain which aids them in raising and breaking poles out of the ground, was also mounted on the platform extension. They also customized their Reading platform with an aerial tower and a digger derrick which is operated from inside the bed area and is essential to the efficiency of their work.
Industrial Electric Co. is an electrical contractor and also performs some communication and exterior lighting maintenance contracting. They’ve been in business for over 65 years and employ 60 personnel. Their fleet of 29 vehicles aids them in servicing a nine county area in southeastern Michigan. They are a member of the National Electrical Contractor’s Association.
The Platform Body was purchased through Cannon Engineering & Eq. Co., an authorized Reading distributor located in Troy, MI.
Each Reading Platform Body features a reinforced steel girder understructure, offering proper support for large or heavy loads. Reading Platforms are available in lengths from 8 ft. to 24 ft. The platform floor is available in smooth steel, deck plate steel, or wood. Steel stakes are optional and are constructed of 14-gauge steel on standard and heavy duty models, and 12-gauge steel on extra heavy-duty models. The stake racks are also available in pressure treated dense Southern yellow pine.
